Taman Ratna is a matured neighbourhood of residences and commercial lots, established in the town of Butterworth, Penang. The development appears to have been around for quite some years, with a range of apartments, terraces as well as shop offices within.

The homes of Taman Ratna illustrate a mix of lower to medium and higher-medium population, with the apartments being low-cost while the landed homes are mid-range. The properties within the neighbourhood are freehold, with homes beginning from sizes of 828 sf.

The quiet neighbourhood of Taman Ratna does not offer much in terms of facilities. However, there is a children’s playground and open area for public use, which is common for older neighbourhoods.

Most of the shop office within Taman Ratna remain unoccupied. Hence, resents will require a short walk to the many commercial hubs lining Jalan Teluk Air Tawar, which is the nearest main road. With that banks, eateries, pharmacies and more can be found in the many shop lots around the area.

There are also a number of supermarkets along the main road while the Telok Air Tawar police station, along with Masjid Daerah Seberang Prai Utara and Masjid Bagan Belat. To add, there is also a number of schools within the vicinities. These include SRJK (C) Aik Keow Telok Air Tawar, SMK Telok Air Tawar, SK Telok Ayer Tawar and SK Taman Senangan.

Accessibility wise, Butterworth town is under 15 minutes from Taman Ratna via Jalan Teluk Air Tawar and the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR). The BORR is also the route which will connect Taman Ratna to other towns on the mainland, such as Seberang Perai, about 20 minutes down south. The first Penang bridge is then accessible from there.
