About Taman Tun Sardon

Properties for Rent in Taman Tun Sardon

Taman Tun Sardon is a mostly residential neighbourhood in Gelugor, a town on the Penang Island. It consists of diverse types of homes, ranging from luxurious bungalows, to low-cost terrace houses, to a 5-storey, walk-up freehold flat complex constructed in the 80s. The latter, offering compact 550sf units and facilities like a playground and communal ground level parking lots, is easily identified by its striking orange-yellow facade. The neighbourhood could be a good place for lower-income families with school-going children, as there are at least 4 schools in its surroundings, which are SK Bukit Gelugor, SK Minden Height, SMK Datuk Haji Mohd Nor Ahmad and SMK Bukit Gambir. The University of Science, Malaysia (USM) is also less than 4km away, contributing to the student rentals in the area. For recreation, residents can go to places like the Badminton International Penang, located about 5 to 10 minutes from Taman Tun Sardon, or do a spot of retail therapy at either the Tesco Hypermarket or Tesco Extra Sungai Dua. Within the neighbourhood, there is also a popular night market that has been operating for many years, in addition to a famous food court called Astaka Taman Tun Sardon. Transportation-wise, there is a bus stop right in the heart of the neighbourhood, where residents can catch Rapid Penang buses 206 and 302 to destinations like Batu Maung, the Georgetown jetty and the Tesco Penang situated along Jalan Tunku Kudin. For those who drive, the main road of Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah is a 5-minute drive away, as are the banks and restaurants on either side of the road. Just in case residents need to pop over to areas on Penang Mainland for work or leisure, the Penang Bridge is also just about 6km away, accessed via the Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, a major coastal expressway stretching between Georgetown and Bayan Lepas on the eastern side of the island.
