Taman Jentayu is a neighbourhood situated near the town centre of Simpang Ampat, on the Penang Mainland. As with many of the residential neighbourhoods along the main roads, there are shop lots in the outer portion of the neighbourhood that faces the road, while the residential properties, such as 2-storey terrace houses and a low-cost flat with compact residential units are built deeper inside. The strategic location of Taman Jentayu is highly advantageous for its commercial properties, as they enjoy good visibility from motorists travelling on their way to and out of the town centre. Moreover, there is a pedestrian bridge that connects the neighbourhood with Taman Tion Mas on the other side of Jalan Permatang Tinggi, encouraging foot traffic within the area. Families with school-age children will be able to send them to one of the schools in the area, such as SK Bukit Tambun, SJK (C) Keng Koon, SMK Simpang Ampat, SMK Bandar Tasek Mutiara, GEM International School Pearl City, Kolej Komuniti Nibong Tebal, or various private kindergartens. SMK Simpang Ampat is the closest of these to the neighbourhood, and accessible via a 3-minute walk. Other amenities in the vicinity of Taman Jentayu include convenience stores, petrol stations, banks, food and beverage outlets, and pharmacies; AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam (along with its cinema and wide array of stores) is about 10 minutes away. A 10-minute drive will also get residents to several medical amenities around, like clinics and dentists. The nearest hospital, however, is Hospital Sungai Bakap, which is about 9km away. The fastest way to get to the Penang Island from Taman Jentayu is using the North-South Expressway (NSE) and the Second Penang Bridge, linked to the neighbourhood by Jalan Bukit Tambun. In total, the journey to the island is about 30km, taking about 30 minutes.
