Kuantan, the state capital of Pahang, is a beautiful place filled with nature and sandy beaches. It is the largest city in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

The history of settlement here dates back to the 1st century when a part of the Chih-Tu empire occupied the area. In the 12th century, the Siamese used to conquer the land here, and in the 15th century, the Malacca Empire ruled this area. The township of Kuantan was established around the late 19th century with the arrival of Chinese miners and traders.

Kuantan has undergone rapid development over the years. With thriving urbanisation comes an increase in population. More people have been settling down here thanks to its strategic location as the east coast’s central hub for social, commercial, economic activities. Few of Kuantan’s huge projects include the Putra Square, Kuantan Port City and the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which was built to enhance growth in the east region of Peninsula.

With a mix of natural rainforests and beaches surrounding its resorts, Kuantan was set up to be an ideal relaxing escapade for everyone, making it the popular tourist attraction that it is today. The must-visits here include the Teluk Cempedak and Cherating where you can relish soft beaches or go on a river cruise. Other popular attractions here include Sungai Berkelah, Gambang Safari Park, Teruntum Mini Zoo, and more.

The healthcare amenities here serve the residents well. A number of nearby hospitals are available for any emergencies. Among them are Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, Kuantan Medical centre, and KPJ Pahang Specialist Hospital. Kuantan also has many choices for local or international educational institutions; SMK Teluk Chempedak, International School Of Kuantan, Regent International School Kuantan, and more.

This city is suitable for families who want to immerse themselves in the peace of nature while having a chance to spend their weekends at a variety of nearby beaches.
