Kota Damansara is a relatively young development. It is self-sufficient, is connected via a network of roads and a brand new MRT station, and has a broad range of residential options. It is also very well served with F&B, shopping options and amenities.
Kota Damansara is an interesting township that was previously a forest reserve. Solely owned by PKNS,the development first started in 1992; where PKNS was later joined by other private ventures like Sunway Bhd, Encorp, Sunsuria, Dijaya Corporation and the Andaman Group.
The development of Kota Damansara picked up drastically once it was joined by private developers. There is a very broad range of residential areas here, mixed in with factories and office towers. Some of the areas are quite defined. For example, Section 9 boasts high-end bungalows and a graveyard that caused much controversy, while Section 7 houses low-cost flats and the MBPJ public hall. Development has been heavy in Kota Damansara in recent years, with initial property investors earning 5X their capital in returns, and growing, while its prospects are even brighter with the opening of the Kota Damansara MRT Station, which provide convenient transport into the city centre, and all the way to Kajang.
For the nature lovers, Kota Damansara Community Forest Reserve is extremely popular, and offers 320 hectares of green. This area offers a panoramic view from the highest point of the forest reserve and 16km of hiking trails which are well-maintained by volunteers and dotted with helpful signages. There is also a cycling trail.
Home to a few malls and many restaurants and cafes, foodies will be interested in the “red carpet avenue” outside Encorp Strand Mall, where numerous food trucks are parked offering an assortment of food options. Sunway Giza Mall and Tropicana Gardens Mall are also in the area.
