What would you think of the 2% increase on stamp duty from January 2017?

If not mistaken, its applies to all kind of properties. The calculations are like these; Present charges are 1st RM100k for 1%, following with RM400k for 2% and 3% for the rest of amount. New charges from January 2017 are from 3% to 5%, which means properties below RM500k would not have any changes. Anyway, everything has to be confirmed by federal government on next moth. 

S&P and Loan Stamp Duty both increase or?

According my solicitors, its only applies to SPA.

Malaysian government really "hungry" for income from all sort of taxes nowadays.

Will this measure able to curb property speculation in the short term?
